Durham Region Ontario lies directly to the east of Toronto. It encompasses an area of approximately 2,590 square kilometres or 1,000 square miles. The population in 2001 was 531,000. It is projected it will be 760,000 in 2011.
Durham Region consists of Pickering, Ajax, Whitby, Oshawa, Clarington, Township of Uxbridge, Township of Brock and Township of Scugog.
Clarington contains Courtice, Bowmanville, Hampton, Newcastle and Newtonville.
Scugog contains Port Perry, Blackstock and Greenbank.
Brock contains Cannington and the beautiful town of Beaverton on the shore of Lake Simcoe.
The Township of Uxbridge contains the town of Uxbridge.
